Introduction:
Every author has a story behind their story. The driving force that compels them to put pen to paper or fingers to keyboard. Since I can remember, I have always dreamed of writing a book. As a young woman, I had romance fiction in mind. That dream was gone and forgotten for years.
The love for my niece inspired this dream once again two years ago, but this time it was a children’s book. Her love for unicorns motivated me to work on one. Today I wish to share some of the personal motivations and inspirations. Which led me to embark on this exciting journey of creating a children’s book.
Rediscovering the Magic of Childhood:
A powerful motivator for me was the possibility of rekindling the magic of childhood. It is common for adults to become absorbed in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Forgetting the wonder and innocence of their childhood. Writing children’s books allowed me to relive wonder and share it with young readers.
Leaving a Lasting Legacy:
It is more than telling a story to create a children’s book. It is about leaving a lasting legacy for generations to come. A well-crafted children’s book can shape a child’s imagination, values, and perspective. I want to influence children by writing such books.
Connecting with Young Minds:
Writing for children gave me a unique opportunity to connect with young minds. Kids have an uncanny ability to ask questions, imagine, and dream without limits. The purpose of my book was to encourage people to explore endless possibilities. Igniting their curiosity and motivate them to be creative.
I wanted to create something special that would live beyond me for my beautiful niece.
Tackling Important Themes:
Children’s books address important themes in a simple and relatable way. In my story, I felt compelled to address issues like empathy, kindness, and friendship. These topics are not only important but also essential for today’s young readers. And I wished to join that conversation.
Nurturing a Love for Reading:
Introducing children to the joy of books and the power of storytelling is a gift that keeps on giving. I’m proud to be part of that legacy. Reading has always been an important part of my life. I wanted to be a part of nurturing that love for reading in young hearts.
10 Tips To Ignite A Life Long Passion For Reading In Kids
1. Be a Reading Role Model:
Children often emulate what they see. Let them see you reading, whether it’s books, magazines, or newspapers.

Begin reading to your child from infancy. Even before they can understand the words. They’ll develop a love for the sound of your voice and the experience of sharing a book.

Dedicate a cozy and well-lit reading nook in your home filled with age-appropriate books. Make it inviting and comfortable.
4. Visit the Library:
Take regular trips to the local library. Let your child choose books that interest them. Library visits can become a fun family tradition.

Continue reading aloud to your child, even after they can read on their own. This helps with comprehension and strengthens the bond between you.
6. Variety of Materials:
Offer a variety of reading materials, including fiction, non-fiction, comics, and graphic novels. Diversity in reading materials can keep them engaged.
7. Let Them Choose:
Allow your child to choose books that interest them, even if it’s not what you’d pick. The goal is to foster a love for reading, so their interests matter most.
8. Set a Reading Time:
Establish a daily or weekly reading time as a family ritual. Turn off screens and focus on books during this time.
